This is a fantastic device. It is not only affordable but is also very reliable. One of the big benefits is that the outputs and inputs are on the same side. These devices are extremely portable as well. Do not buy this if you need physical midi in/out. The AMS series does not have midi in/out. Device is USB 2.0 and connects via USB C.
The Zoom ams-44 is (I think) the smallest and most lightweight 4in/4out audio interface around (afaik). It's and also incredibly affordable, and seems to be reliable in my usage so far.
I would dock 1 star because it's not really "pretty", and it's got buttons and knobs on every surface but the bottom, which can make it a little more difficult to position in a tight pedalboard or comparable setup. Also, outputs 3+4 don't have dedicated 1/4" jacks. (That almost certainly would have required making the unit slightly bigger, but I'd still prefer it.) But for the price and capabilities, it's still 5 star.
The 4 outputs are a little interesting: Outputs 1+2 send out the 1/4" (balanced, according to the manual) jacks on the back, and as a stereo pair out the top 1/8" headphone jack on the front. Outputs 3+4 send out the bottom 1/8" headphone jack on the front.
A 1/8" stereo male -> 2x mono XLR male cable gets separate outputs 3 & 4. (The headphone level works fine to go into a mixer or another interface for recording/streaming.)
